As we transition into the cozy months of autumn, we would like to share a glimpse into several vibrant festivals that have the power to light up homes, hearts and skies across the world.

To begin with, let us bring our attention to Diwali – the Hindu Festival of Lights!

These days millions of people across the globe are celebrating. Homes are decorated with lamps and candles, symbolizing warmth and welcome. Families gather to share festive meals, exchange gifts, and enjoy fireworks. Diwali is also a time to reflect on positivity and new beginnings!

Simultaneously, in Denmark many families are already beginning to embrace the Christmas spirit 🎄

In the coming months, many Danish cities will transform beautifully. You will have the chance to experience festive decorations, charming markets, and twinkling lights.

For example, on 1 November, Salling in Aalborg will illuminate the city center with their 500,000 Christmas lights. The lights will be turned on at 17:00, where famous Danish pop-star Medina will perform. This event is free and will take place at Nytorv 8, 9000 Aalborg. Another festive event is the opening of the Annual Christmas Market in Aalborg on Friday 15 November. Moreover, in both Copenhagen and Esbjerg, there will be many Christmas events to enjoy as well!

In the coming months, we from the International Staff Unit (ISU) at Aalborg University are excited to offer a series of events designed to support and connect our international staff community.

On 13 November, the Danish Tax Agency will be hosting a tax webinar to help answer your questions about the Danish tax system and prepare you for the upcoming year.

Following that, we will host a casual social meet-up on 14 November, providing a great opportunity to network and make new connections in a relaxed setting.

To wrap up the year, we invite you to join us for our annual ISU Christmas celebration, an event filled with festive cheer, holiday treats and good company. Spouses, partners and children are warmly welcome to join as well and enjoy the many Danish traditions and treats we will prepare.
